Sometimes you find a phrase that’s not only a descriptor of the moment, but also of the condition in general. For me and Cody, that’s “off the rails”. It’s a little crazy, a lot sarcastic, a complete run-around of the rules. Jumping on the bed while someone else is sleeping (him)? Off the rails. Putting up the Christmas tree on November 1 (me)? Off the rails. Keeping chickens in your city back yard (him)? Off. The. Rails.

He grew up in rural Washington, hunting and fishing and being generally one with nature. I grew up in the the urban midwest, reading, writing, and wondering if I could build a tunnel from my house to school. I built his company a website, he asked me to dinner, and the rest is, well, this.

These are the stories of the not-so-everyday things that happen in our lives with some photography, recipes, cool stuff we love, and general tomfoolery thrown in.¬†As it turns out, two people raised in completely different worlds can be pretty divergent. But if there’s anywhere we come together, it’s #OffTheRails.
